Terms of work.

What is included, who owns what, and what happens if things go quiet. Written so you never need to ask us to explain a clause. Last updated September 2026.

What we do

We design and build brand new websites for businesses that do not have one. We do not take on redesigns, rebuilds, online shops or e-commerce, and we do not sell SEO, marketing or monthly maintenance. If your project needs any of those, we will say so before you pay anything.

Quotes and payment

Guide prices are on our Pricing page. Your actual quote follows our questionnaire and is fixed in writing within two working days of us understanding what you need. Once you accept it:

  • A 50% deposit is payable before we start.
  • The remaining 50% is payable once the site is live and you are happy with it.
  • Add-ons such as a logo or launch video are invoiced with the balance.
  • There are no monthly fees. You pay for work, when we do it.

What is included

One considered design, then two rounds of changes on that design, then the build and going live. Two rounds means two consolidated sets of feedback, not two years of small requests. Anything beyond that is quoted as extra work before we do it, so there are never surprise invoices.

What we need from you

Content is almost always the slow part, so it helps to know up front: we need your text, photos, prices, opening hours and anything else that has to appear on the site. We will help shape and write it, but we cannot invent facts about your business. If we are waiting on content, the timeline moves out by however long we wait.

If a project stalls

We know life happens. If we do not hear from you for 30 days, we will pause the project and let you know. If we still have not heard from you after 90 days, we treat the project as closed: the deposit is not refunded, because the work up to that point has been done, and picking it up again later is quoted fresh. You are welcome to come back, and we will not be difficult about it.

Who owns what

Once the final invoice is paid, the finished website is yours. That includes:

  • The pages, layout, images and text created for your site.
  • Your logo files, if we designed one.
  • Your launch video file, if you bought one.
  • Your domain and hosting, which are registered in your name from the start, not ours.

Before the final invoice is paid, the design and files remain ours. We keep the right to show the finished site in our own portfolio and to reuse our general skills, methods and code approaches on other projects, which is normal for any studio.

Changes after launch

Once your site is live, any change is a message to us and a small fixed fee for that piece of work. We do not manage sites day to day, so we are not the right fit for weekly specials, blog posts or frequent content updates. New pages, updated images, changed contact details, revised pricing and similar occasional changes are exactly what we are here for.

Things we cannot promise

We build your site carefully and test it, but we cannot guarantee search rankings, visitor numbers, sales, or that a third party service such as your hosting provider will never go down. Where something is outside our control, we will tell you plainly rather than pretend otherwise.

Cancelling

You can walk away at any point. If you cancel after paying the deposit but before the design is delivered, the deposit covers the work already done and is not refunded. If you cancel after the design is delivered, the deposit stands and no further payment is due. If we ever have to cancel on you, we will refund anything you have paid for work we have not done.

Questions

If any of this is unclear, ask us before you pay a deposit rather than after. We would much rather have the conversation early.
